Driver Rehabilitation

Outpatient Driver Rehabilitation – Regain the freedom of being safe behind the wheel.

For more than 15 years, St. Lawrence has helped men and women with temporary or permanent disabilities learn to drive or return to driving. We offer a comprehensive program with licensed instructors and adapted vehicles.

All clinical evaluations, assessments and training are provided by registered occupational therapists who are also NJ licensed driving instructors.

Requirements to begin the program:

1. A referral from an attending physician
2. A valid driver’s license or learner’s permit
3. Adequate visual acuity
4. Independence in wheelchair propulsion, or ambulation and transfers with assistive devices

We offer:

• Clinical, pre-driver evaluations, which include functional ability, brake reaction, vision, perception and cognition.
• Behind-the-wheel assessments on a closed course in a sefe, designed and confined area, progressing to residential and highway driving.
• Driver Training.
