Stroke is the leading cause of disability in older adults today. People who have had a stroke typically have weakness on one side of their body, known as hemiplegia. They may have difficulty with walking, speaking, eating, seeing, swallowing, taking care of themselves, or they may experience a combination of these or other side-effects from stroke.
The Stroke Program at St. Lawrence was developed to offer the best
physical, cognitive, and emotional recovery for our patients following a stroke. The main goal of our program is that each patient achieves the highest level of function possible.
