Vestibular Program

Our Vestibular Rehabilitation Program will help you regain the freedom of living without dizziness.

Signs of a vestibular (inner ear) disorder:

  • Dizziness with a change in position, such as getting out of or rolling over in bed, walking down a supermarket aisle, or driving a car.
  • Unsteadiness when walking, especially in poorly lit areas.
  • Difficulty focusing with your eyes while in motion.

Causes of Vestibular Disorders

  • BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) the most common cause of vertigo.
  • Trauma from a motor vehicle accident or fall
  • Autoimmune Disorders such as Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Viral or Bacterial infection upper-respiratory infections often
    precede vertigo
  • Exposure to industrial chemical(s) common in the automotive industry
  • Side effects of medication such as Gentamicin, a common antibiotic
  • Meniers Disease usually accompanied by fluctuations in hearing
  • Arteriosclerosis narrowing of blood vessels that occur with aging can disrupt the functions of the inner ear
  • Acoustic Neuroms - may benefit from physical therapy after surgery

  6. Computerized Dynamic Visual Acuity Testing
  7. Gait assessment
  8. Specific testing for Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BBPV)
